UN Secretary-General visits Gaza, welcomed with Shoes and Rocks

UN Secretary-General Ban ki-Moon took a trip to Gaza and while his convoy meandered through the streets, it was pelted with shoes and rocks.

Via Arutz Sheva:

An angry crowd hurled shoes and stones at United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s convoy as it entered Hamas-run Gaza on Thursday.

The crowd also struck the vehicles with signs bearing slogans accusing Ban of bias towards Israel, among others. No one was injured in the incident and the convoy simply pushed through the crowd and sped away. Ban is visiting the region to try to jumpstart the long-stalled peace process between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

If Ban has bias toward Israel, can someone please show me where it is? Palestinians should be thanking him. He recently ordered a halt to all Israeli settlements.

Via the BBC:

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said Israeli settlement building anywhere in occupied territory is illegal and must stop.

Mr Ban is in the Middle East to meet Israeli and Palestinian leaders and press them to resume peace talks.

Israel’s controversial announcement of plans to build 1,600 more homes in East Jerusalem has inflamed tensions in the region and between Israel and the US.

The Palestinian leadership has said the plan is an obstacle to resuming talks.

The truth is that the Palestinians have learned that the more they bully, the more they get what they want.

As for Ban ki-Moon, another lesson he should learn is that the only thing he can do that will prevent rocks from being thrown at his convoy when he visits Gaza is to call for the extermination of Israel. It’s called appeasement, about which Winston Churchill famously said:

Appeasement is feeding others to the crocodile in hopes that he will eat you last.

How will Ban respond? Will he continue feeding crocodiles or did he have his eyes opened?
