Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio Praise Fidel Castro Comrade

Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio both have parents that know of Fidel Castro’s atrocities. That didn’t stop either man from praising close Castro comrade, Nelson Mandela.

Ben Barrack talks about this and more on today’s show:

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is of Cuban descent. His father fled the brutal dictatorship of Fidel Castro. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) is of Cuban descent as well. His parents fled Cuba before Castro came to power but the could never return thereafter. In essence, the parents of both men know the evil Castro wrought. To this day, the both preach against the communist ideology.

That is why it is so inexplicable to see both of these men lower the bar for political correctness by heaping praise on the now deceased Nelson Mandela, a man who had great reverence for Castro.

In a statement after Mandela’s death, Cruz said:

“Nelson Mandela will live in history as an inspiration for defenders of liberty around the globe. He stood firm for decades on the principle that until all South Africans enjoyed equal liberties he would not leave prison himself, declaring in his autobiography, ‘Freedom is indivisible; the chains on any one of my people were the chains on all of them, the chains on all of my people were the chains on me.’ Because of his epic fight against injustice, an entire nation is now free.

“We mourn his loss and offer our condolences to his family and the people of South Africa.”

Like Cruz, Rubio conveyed praise for Mandela:

“The world has lost one of history’s most important figures, though Nelson Mandela’s example will live on for generations to come. Men and women striving for justice and fairness around the world have drawn inspiration from Nelson Mandela, and he showed South Africans and the entire world what the power of forgiveness truly means and can accomplish. My wife Jeanette and I send our condolences to the Mandela family and to the people of South Africa.”

When the facebook pages of both Cruz and Rubio became flooded with comments from people who had a problem with these statements, the mainstream media took the opportunity to further attempt to paint conservatives as extremists because even the ‘extreme’ Tea Party Senators Cruz and Rubio expressed appreciation for Mandela.

During the program, Barrack plays clips from a documentary that includes audio of a meeting in a hotel room between Mandela and Castro.

Why did these men, whose parents fled Castro, praise Castro's close friend?
