U.S. Embassy Reported to have Given Safe Harbor to ally of Wanted War Criminal and Terrorist

**SHOEBAT EXCLUSIVE**

It’s been reported via the Angels of East Africa and other sources that the former Vice President of South Sudan – Riek Machar – was secretly given safe harbor by the U.S. State Department after a failed coup attempt he led last December. Machar reportedly stayed at the U.S. Embassy in South Sudan for three days after the coup attempt failed and was seen leaving the embassy as part of an SUV convoy replete with darkly tinted windows.

This does not comport with the Obama administration’s stance last month that there was “(no) evidence of a coup attempt,” according to the assistant secretary of state for African affairs. The Obama administration’s official stance also doesn’t square with a December 16th article by the BBC that relayed the claims of South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir, who said the attempted coup had been put down.

Machar is known to have a history that includes conflicting alliances, one with Sudan’s President Omar Al-Bashir – himself a Muslim Brotherhood member and ally – and the other with the South Sudanese liberation movement, once led by John Garang, who was killed in a helicopter crash in 2005. Even the pro-Muslim Brotherhood Al-Jazeera has conceded that Machar was once an aid to al-Bashir. In a report from last month, it had this to say about Machar:

His groups received help from the Sudanese government and in 1997, he signed a deal with Khartoum and became an assistant to President Omar al-Bashir.

But a few years later, he returned to the rebels. He mended ties with Garang and rejoined the SPLA as a senior commander in 2002.

Before getting into more of the explosive politics currently going on in Sudan, watch the extremely powerful video below that involves the story of a seventeen year-old boy named Marial Simon. He was one of thousands of people who were displaced from their homes and fled to the U.N. Mission Compound in Juba during the violent coup attempt on the night of December 15, 2013.

The previously orphaned Marial lost his uncle that night; many other innocent people were murdered as well. Pay close attention to Marial’s claims that the Machar-led rebels wanted him to join their army and that they were very interested in recruiting teenagers as young as fourteen to fight for them. The additional relevance of this particular claim is explained after the video, which also features Machine Gun Preacher, Sam Childers.

Via Machine Gun Preacher:

In 2012, millions of Americans learned about the name Joseph Kony, thanks to a video that went insanely viral in March of that year. Kony is the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), which is responsible for extremely heinous crimes that include raiding villages and forcing young boys to join the LRA after making them murder their own parents.

Conspicuously absent from the Kony 2012 video was any mention of Al-Bashir, the man actually responsible for funding and supporting the LRA leader. At the time, Childers released a video of his own in which he pointed this out and encouraged people not to stop with Kony but to focus even more on al-Bashir, the root of the evil.

Forcing young boys to join a military effort by Machar’s forces – as relayed by the young Marial – is eerily reminiscent of the LRA’s tactics.

It would constitute a pattern which includes Omar Al-Bashir as a common denominator.

As we have reported here, another alleged agent of al-Bashir is Malik Obama, the older brother of the President of the United States, Barack Obama. The relationship between the two Obamas is very close according to Malik, who said as much in a 2013 interview with GQ Magazine.

If President Barack Obama is anything, he is cagey. In a December 22, 2013 news report by ABC in Australia, the U.S. President is quoted as saying he would cut-off aid to South Sudan if there was a coup. This position would put him against Al-Bashir and potentially against his own brother. However, the date on that report was nearly a week after the coup had already failed.

In February of 2012, Andrew S. Natsios wrote in an article for Foreign Affairs that when South Sudan appeared to be aligning with Darfur to bring al-Bashir to justice, Barack Obama forcefully tamped it down:

“On November 12, Agar, Hilu, and the three major rebel leaders in Darfur formally announced a new alliance to depose Bashir’s Islamist autocracy and install a secular democratic pluralist state. Khartoum has accused the South Sudanese government of supplying the rebel alliance with weapons. The Obama administration repeated the charge. That led to an acrimonious meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and South Sudanese President Salva Kiir late last year. The South has since stopped weapons transfers.”

If ever there was an alliance the U.S. should support, one between South Sudan and Darfur against al-Bashir fits the bill. Al-Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on several counts related to crimes against humanity and Sudan was placed on the U.S. State Department list of State Sponsors of Terrorism after al-Bashir became president of that country.

Moreover, the Washington Times reported (via Pajamas Media) that the Obama administration has actually sought to ‘mend ties’ with al-Bashir.

Of course, if there is anyone who should be outraged by all of this, it’s Hollywood actor George Clooney, whose activist cause celebre’ is wanting to bring al-Bashir to justice. In 2012, Clooney held a Hollywood fundraiser for the Obama campaign and raised $15 Million. Clooney continues to support Obama.

As for South Sudan’s former Vice-President Machar, divining motives for his alleged treason is difficult to do. However, In April of 2012 – less than one year after South Sudan got its independence –  it was reported that Machar’s home in Khartoum, the capital of Al-Bashir’s Sudan, was raided in the dark of night by Al-Bashir’s forces while Machar’s family members were inside.

Via the Sudan Tribune:

Sudan’s security services in Khartoum have raided the house of the South Sudan’s Vice President, Riek Machar, arresting people and looting its movable assets, Juba has claimed.

James Gatdet Dak, Machar’s press secretary, told Sudan Tribune that the raid occurred at 3am on Sunday morning. Five students who are relatives to the Vice President and resided in the house in Khartoum were arrested by the security personnel.

Juba also claimed that a young girl found in the house was intentionally “mishandled” by the Sudanese security. The girl called Ayom is believed to be from the Dinka tribe and not related to the Vice President and was staying at Machar’s house while trying to get her school certificates in Khartoum. Her age is unknown.

Her whereabouts and those of his relatives was also unclear on Sunday evening. The office of the South Sudan’s Vice President called on Sudan’s government to respect human rights of individuals and urged for their release.

The security personnel took the vehicles at the residence as well as refrigerators. It was not clear why the house was raided.

The modus operandi of Al-Bashir’s evil underlings has been established, to include some of the most heinously coercive tactics, involving terrorizing families, murder, and unspeakable crimes. Yet, days after the failed coup attempt last December, Machar spoke to Al Jazeera and identified Salva Kiir’s forces as being the ones who raided his residence and “summarily executed” his bodyguards. Similar denunciations of al-Bashir by Machar for the raid of his Khartoum home may exist but could not be found.

Similarly, in an interview with the BBC last month, Machar accused South Sudan’s President Kiir of being responsible for massacring “thousands of lives”. Machar did this while ignoring the atrocities of al-Bashir, which only further calls his credibility into question.

These latest developments say nothing of the favorable and potentially illegal tax-exempt status received by Malik Obama’s Foundation, courtesy of Lois Lerner, who may be guilty of aiding an enemy combatant:
