The Saudis have been funding the Muslim Brotherhood’s global efforts for years. Now they are identifying the group as a terrorist organization. In just one example, Walid went into great detail when explaining how the Saudis were behind the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA), which has been led by Huma Abedin’s Muslim Brotherhood family since the late 1970’s.
Saudi King Abdullah: For the Brotherhood before he was against it.
Saudi Arabia identified the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group along with al Qaeda and others Friday, warning those who join them or support them they could face five to 30 years in prison.
A Saudi Interior Ministry statement said King Abdullah approved the findings of a committee entrusted with identifying extremist groups referred to in a royal decree earlier last month. The decree punishes those who fight in conflicts outside the kingdom or join extremist groups or support them.
The king’s decree followed the kingdom enacting a sweeping new counterterrorism law that targets virtually any criticism of the government.
Since the Brotherhood was overthrown in Egypt, the Saudis have supported el-Sisi and the Obama administration continues to be outed as having a relationship with the Mursi regime that was far too cozy.
The Saudi schizophrenia when it comes to supporting the Brotherhood in places like Syria but not in Egypt is difficult to follow, especially when it’s identifying the group as a terrorist organization. If it were consistent, all of the Muslim Brotherhood front groups in the U.S. should begin to see their Saudi funding dry up.
It would be nice to see the Saudis identify groups like ISNA, CAIR, and others as terrorist organizations; it would at least make them consistent.
