Bergdahl’s Release and Page 261 of Obama’s Book

By Ben Barrack

Evidence suggests that when Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was released by the Taliban in a ‘prisoner swap’ negotiated by the Obama administration, the Taliban actually released one of its own, as Shoebat.com reported. In doing this, Obama could be sending a signal that he thinks “political winds” are “shift(ing) in an ugly direction”.

After 9/11, Barack Obama’s sympathies seemed to lie more with “Arab and Pakistani Americans” than with the real victims of the attacks. Here is what he wrote:

…they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.Barack Obama, Audacity of Hope, p. 261

According to the accounts of soldiers who knew Bergdahl, he’s more like ‘American Taliban’ John Walker Lindh than an American hero. Here is an excerpt from a facebook post from Dan Witmer, a man claiming to be a soldier who served with Bergdahl at the time of the latter’s disappearance in 2009:

“We come to realize that the kid deserted his post, snuck out of camp and sought out Taliban… to join them… It was hard to see, especially when we knew the truth about what happened and we lost good men trying to find him. PFC Matthew Michaael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG CLayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from our unit who died looking for Bergdahl.”

The ‘political winds’ have indeed been shifting in an ugly direction for Obama. Every time a scandal gets to close to him, there seems to be something else to take its place. The most recent example involves Bergdahl’s release, which came one day after the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki.

When the House Select Committee on Benghazi was announced, Boko Haram and the VA scandal stole the headlines. This was not an accident; it was the media doing what it does best. Follow orders from the administration. The Boko Haram-inspired #BringBackOurGirls campaign caused significant PR problems for American Muslim groups and the VA scandal just added another layer to Obama’s problems. Both were likely deemed preferable to incessant media coverage of Benghazi.

Unfortunately for Obama, they were not. The president was using Alinsky to trap himself.

When Shinseki resigned, he was no longer the face of the VA scandal; Obama was. The administration needed something new for the media to focus on. Bergdahl’s release was announced one day after Hillary Clinton’s “allies” held a meeting to discuss ways to present a “united front” on Benghazi and two days after the cover on a private lunch between Obama and Hillary was blown.

While the release of Bergdahl smacks of being another chapter in a long line of Obama diversions, it could signal something else too. It could indicate that Obama believes he is running out of options and is sending his allies to page 261 of his book with the release of Bergdahl.

Obama is a narcissist. He injects himself into practically everything he says or does. What could better demonstrate that narcissism while holding true to p. 261 than releasing an American soldier who hates and has betrayed his country? As Commander-in-Chief, Obama is America’s top soldier. He has also pledged – in his own words – allegiance to “Arab and Pakistani” Americans when the “Political winds shift in an ugly direction”.

The Obama administration appears to have released six Taliban terrorists and called it a five for one ‘prisoner swap’. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s release from Afghanistan is being promoted by the administration as if an American hero has been freed. In reality, Bergdahl may be even more of a traitor than ‘American Taliban’ John Walker Lindh, who was captured in Afghanistan in 2001.

His release could be a signal from the President of the United States that he believes the “political winds” are indeed shifting.
