Time to Hold IRS Commissioner in Contempt of Congress if he Doesn’t Release Lois Lerner’s Emails

The President of Judicial Watch Tom Fitton announced publicly that a Justice Department attorney told one of his attorneys that none of Lois Lerner’s emails are lost. This is a stunning admission and if there was any email correspondence involving Lerner and the tax-exempt status of Malik Obama’s Barack H. Obama Foundation (BHOF), it would mean those emails still exist as well.

Here is Fitton appearing on Fox News making the shocking claim (h/t NewsBusters):

Asserting under oath – as IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has – that Lerner’s emails were destroyed or lost if in fact those emails are retrievable clearly means there is something incredibly damaging in those emails. A conscious decision to have an IRS Commissioner commit verifiable perjury is a very serious matter that smacks of a desperation so extreme that the contents of said emails could be the political equivalent of a nuclear torpedo hitting the Obama administration.

Any correspondence about the tax-exempt status of the President’s brother – who is connected to terrorism – would certainly qualify.

It is not known what, if any, email correspondence Lerner had relative to the BHOF but consider that the BHOF was founded in April of 2008 and did not file its tax-exempt paperwork until May of 2011. As Shoebat.com reported, the Lerner emails in question are from January 2009 – April 2011 according to the House Ways and Means Committee.

In June, Koskinen appeared before the House Ways and Means Committee and testified that Lerner’s emails had been lost.

Perjury?

Koskinen also testified to the same thing at the House Oversight Committee hearing that same month:

Should Koskinen be held in contempt of Congress for not releasing all of Lerner’s emails (possibly easier than doing so for perjury), it would make him the third person to be found in contempt since 2012. The first two were Attorney General Eric Holder – for similarly not honoring a subpoena for documents related to the Operation Fast and Furious scandal – and Lois Lerner for waiving her fifth amendment right and then refusing to testify.

Should Koskinen be found in contempt, pressure would likely build on House Speaker John Boehner to clear the Contempt of Congress bottleneck and order the Sergeant at Arms to start throwing the guilty parties in jail.
