In Sermon at Mosque Attended by Boston Marathon Bombers, Imam Says Liberal Atheist Criticism of Islam is ‘Code Red’ for Muslims

Radical Imam Suhaib Webb took to his pulpit at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC) to address the viral video exchange between atheist comedian Bill Maher, atheist author Sam Harris, and Hollywood dupe Ben Affleck. Webb essentially sounded the alarm bells for his congregation, saying that when conservatives levy criticism against Islam, it’s something that can be absorbed and managed but when similar criticisms start coming from the left, there’s a major problem.

Translation? The firewall of deceit may have been breached.

The ISBCC was attended by the Boston Marathon bombers and the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City (ISGOC) mosque where Webb was the Imam prior to traveling to Cairo in 2004 to study Sharia law at Al-Azhar University, was attended by Alton Nolen. While Webb maintains these things mean nothing and that he never met any of the three men, there’s plenty to be concerned about when it comes to his background, but first:

Instead of attacking Maher and Harris, though, Webb challenged his fellow Muslims.

“It’s code red,” he preached last Friday, pounding the minbar for emphasis. “People do not like us, and we need to get with it!”

“One day we’re attacked by Fox News, the next day we’re attacked by Muslims who actually pay to have Facebook ads about us,” Webb said.

“I mean, that’s the level of attacks that we’re dealing with as a community and as a people. One brother told me, like what’s going to happen next? It’s like a soap opera.”

Webb himself has been subject to some of those attacks, as conservative media outlets have sought to tie him to Alton Nolen, an Oklahoma man accused of beheading a co-worker, and the Tsarnaev brothers, suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing.

Webb said he never met the three men. “It’s guilt by nonassociation,” he said with a sardonic laugh.

At one point during his sermon last Friday, a man interrupted to argue that Muslims shouldn’t care about what others say about them.

But when even avowed liberals like Maher and Harris lash out against Islam, Webb said, then it’s time to worry.

“The last bastion of support we’ll find in this country are among the liberals and some moderately conservative people,” Webb said.

“What happened on that show that night was to challenge that community and its traditional support of religious minorities in this country, and if we don’t think that’s something we should be worried about, then basically we are building our own coffins.”

Is this not fear mongering? By telling attendees that the views expressed by Maher and Harris constitute a ‘code red’, isn’t Webb giving them justification to act?

As for his contention that he never met Nolen or the Tsarnaev brothers, let’s just cede the point for the time being (actually, let’s just park it for a second). In the interim, check out these other facts Webb would have a tough time addressing:

1.) In an interview, a man (Noor) claiming to have attended the Oklahoma mosque said Webb told him that he (Webb) supports suicide bombings but to deny it to the media.

2.) Two days before 9/11, Webb spoke alongside Anwar al-Awlaki – then the Imam at the notorious Dar al-Hijrah Mosque in Falls Church, VA – at a fundraiser.

3.) Webb has been identified as a leader with the Muslim American Society (MAS), a group confirmed by its former Secretary General Shaker Elsayed as having been formed by Muslim Brotherhood leaders in 1992. Elsayed was captured on video calling for armed Jihad in the U.S.

4.) Elsayed is an Imam at Dar al-Hijrah. In addition to him, Webb is also friendly with another Imam at Dar al-Hijrah – Outreach Director Johari Abdul Malik.

5.) In 2008, Webb paid a visit to the mosque of Imam Siraj Wahhaj in Brooklyn and wrote glowingly about him afterward. Not only is Wahhaj an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 WTC attack but he too has made frequent visits to Dar al-Hijrah. Wahhaj’s Brooklyn mosque was frequented by Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman (the “Blind Sheikh”) that was convicted for his mastermind role in the ’93 WTC attack.

6.) The ISBCC was founded by convicted terrorist Abdurahman Alamoudi.

Ok, so Webb has met, associated with, collaborated with, or otherwise partnered with: Anwar al-Awlaki, Shaker Elsayed, Siraj Wahhaj, Johari Abdul-Malik, and probably quite a few others.

Now, take his claims that he never met the Tsarnaev brothers or Nolen off the shelf, look at them again, and ask yourself a question:

Does it really matter?

Here is the video of Webb’s sermon during which he responded to Maher and Harris:
