Ex-Speaker of House says Intelligence Committee ‘Co-Opted by the CIA’ on Benghazi

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, one of John Boehner’s predecessors, is alleging that the CIA ‘co-opted’ the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI). Gingrich points to the recently released report on Benghazi to make his case.

In addition to this being a shot at the CIA for overreaching, it’s also a slap to Boehner and HPSCI Chairman Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), who is curiously leaving Congress to do a talk radio show.

Shoebat.com has reported on Rogers rather extensively when it comes to his suspicious handling of Benghazi. At minimum, he has multiple conflicts of interest, to include his wife working with a defense contracting firm that was doing business in Libya throughout 2011.

Evidence also suggests that both Rogers and Speaker Boehner may have skin in the Benghazi cover-up game, especially now that the House Intelligence report has been released.

According to an exhaustive report by a respected veteran journalist, both men were recipients of a classified annex report earlier this year that detailed the CIA’s involvement in a weapons trafficking operation.

If, as Gingrich alleges, the CIA ‘co-opted’ the committee, the other half of the equation would involve the matter of why Rogers and Boehner let them do it.

The HPSCI report was completed in early August, as Shoebat.com reported. Yet, conveniently, it was released:

1.) More than three months later.
2.) On a Friday afternoon (oldest trick in the book).
3.) One day after Obama announced his Executive action on amnesty.
4.) On the eve of the Ferguson grand jury verdict.

As the news cycle is being dominated by the goings-on in Ferguson, much to the delight of the Obama administration, the issue of the recent House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) report on Benghazi is being all but ignored by comparison, also to the delight of the CIA, the Obama administration and various members of Congress, to include Rogers and Boehner.

As an aside, Newt is not a fan of one of the lead figures in the Benghazi scandal, according to what his mother told Connie Chung years ago:
