China Is Preparing For War With Japan, And Will, For The First Time, Be Conducting A Full Scale Military Demonstration To Frighten Japan

By Theodore Shoebat

China will be holding its first large scale military parade since 2009 for the 70th anniversary to remember the end of WW2, with the intention of frightening Japan.

Chinese financial and global affairs commentator Hu Zhanhao, said:

Only by showing its military capabilities can (China) show Japan its attitude and determination and let it know that whoever dares to challenge the post-war order related to China and touch China’s core interests is its enemy and must be psychologically prepared for China’s strong counterattack

China is building helicopter landing pads on the island of Nanji, which is within firing range of the Senkaku Islands, an archipelago that Japan and China are disputing over. This recent move by China is just another indication of the increasing intensity that is continuously culminating, and that will eventually explode into a restoration of imperialist Japan, and Japan going to war against China.

Rick Fisher, a senior fellow with the International Assessment and Strategy Center, described this recent situation as the PLA (China’s People’s Liberation Army) pulling their gun out of its holster, and that when soldiers begin to be posted on Nanji, that is the PLA pulling the hammer of that very gun:

“China’s new heli-base on Nanji Island demonstrates that the PLA is preparing for an offensive military operation against the Senkaku/Daiyoutai Islands …If you want to rate the level of tension, this is the PLA reaching for its holster. When forces start deploying to Nanji Island, that means the hammer is cocked.”

Sr. Col. Yang Yujun told reporters in Beijing:

There is no doubt that China has the right to conduct activities and construction on its own territory,” he said. “Some media in Japan make irresponsible speculations on China’s legitimate activities and construction and play up tensions in the region. It is pure media hype.

For now the struggle between Japan and China is being done through spying and surveillance. As IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly said:

For its part, Japan is putting aside funds to buy land for a coastal surveillance radar unit on Yonaguni island, which is the westernmost of its islands and only 150 kilometers from the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands, while it is also training up and kitting out a small marine corps-style force that will be based in Nagasaki

But the use of surveillance and spying will eventually erupt into physical violence. This is signified by the subtle and aggressive movements of China, Russia, and Japan. Chinese war ships and warplanes, and even unmanned surveillance drones, have been moving closely around the Island.

We also have some very significant examples of Russia conducting training exercises and simulated naval battles right on Japanese territory, yet another illustration of a simmering flame that increases in heat, only to explode into full out war.

After Japan defeated the Russians in the Russo-Japanese War, the Japanese took the Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands (called the Northern Territories), but in WW2 the Russians retook these lands and till this day the Japanese are claiming that these territories belong to them. Shinzo Abe just recently announced that he is going to try to finally settle this dispute over the Kuril Islands, saying,

My mission as a politician, as prime minister, is to resolve the problem of the Northern Territories at any cost [and to conclude a peace treaty]

But this announcement of a treaty is a bogus one. For one, Shinzo Abe’s call for peace is not truly about sincere peace between Japan and Russia, but about taking the resources of the Northern Territories that would increase Japan’s power significantly in its journey to dominate East Asia. According to one report, the disputed region “is virtually an untapped source of oil, natural gas, diamonds, timber and other raw materials that would not only help diversify Japan’s energy supplies, but also its economy as a whole.”

Moreover, the Russians will not give up the Sakhalin nor the Kuril Islands to the Japanese. The Russians don’t forget their history, and so they will not just lend the territories to the Japanese after so many Russians died fighting for it. This assessment is also based on the fact that Kremlin chief of staff Sergei Ivanov already announced that the Russian government is going to spend 64 billion rubles ($1.25 billion) on the development of the Kuril Islands between 2016 and 2025.

In addition to this, in August of this year, the Russians and the Chinese both conducted military training exercises, or “combat readiness drills” right on the Kuril Islands. The Russian Ministry of Defense described the exercise as

The paratroopers conduct reconnaissance, ensure the safety of airfields and landing sites, engage in looking for, spotting and destroying reconnaissance sabotage groups of a simulated enemy operating in the coastal areas of Primorye, Chukotka, Kemchatka, Kuril and Sakhalin islands

Why would they be conducting this training session? Because Russia knows that Japan is an enemy that wants the Kuril and Sakhalin islands. This is made more obvious by the fact that the Russians, just this year, did a simulated naval battle right in the Sea of Japan itself, as we read in one report:

Ships of Russia’s Pacific Fleet held a “sea battle” training in the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk, an official in the Russian Defence Ministry’s press service told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.

During the training, Pacific Fleet navymen hit a number of training targets from shipboard artillery mounts, the Ministry official added.

Earlier in the day, the Defence Ministry official pointed out, that the Pacific Fleet anti-submarine ships set out from basing stations and surmounted simulated mine barriers. While doing so, small anti-submarine ships were defending the entire group against submarines of a simulated enemy.

Besides, the Pacific Fleet’s anti-submarine ships, in conjunction with on-shore missile and artillery units, drilled action to defend basing stations.”

What is the purpose of this but to prepare for a war with Japan?

The Russians aren’t going anywhere, and anyone who thinks that Russia is just going to acquiesce to the Japanese does not know the nature of the East. Russia will combat two major superpowers in the future: Turkey, the most powerful of Muslim countries, and Japan, the most powerful of Buddhist countries.
