Imagine you wake up one day and the U.S. presidential candidates are seriously dressed up looking like Puritans because their clothing had to revive an ancient image that reflects their mindset and belief in a religious order of the early colonists. What would you think?
It is obvious today that modern western attire has dominated the world and if you want to advance in a modern society, you must adapt with the times, or else, you will look like a loon.
But this is not the case in Turkey today where some candidates ran for political office for the AKP Justice and Development Party. The elections in Turkey with all the Neo-Ottomanism mania has produced some candidates with some really strange attire as if these guys sprinted out of the time tunnel stemming from the history where the Ottomans reigned supreme.
To show the extent of superiority complex and the desire to revive the Ottoman image, we included some photos of several candidates who had launched Ottoman-themed campaigns to be nominated for the AKP. And these are no product of photoshop.
First you have Osman Yavuz, an AKP electoral candidate nominee in the Central Anatolian province of Konya, was seen wearing a börk, a piece of headgear worn by Seljuk warriors and the first Ottoman sultans in the 14th century who’s campaign under the motto “All Together, New Turkey” had made many headlines, although he did not make it (he looks like a Sultan wannabe).
Then we have Ersin Karababa (sounds like Ali Baba), who nominated himself as an AKP candidate from the northern province of Tokat, had appeared on posters dressed as a sultan from the 1600s or the 1700s.
Similarly, Ankara candidate Cihangir Tahir with his Ottoman-style mustache Ebuzer Aydın from the eastern province of Malatya had a chance with his assertive campaign poster reading “Allah is my reference,” but he was ultimately ignored by the AKP as well.
Nalan Aktaş, a woman self-nominated AKP candidate from Istanbul whose attire had attracted attention on social media for its “historical” resonance.
Although these candidates did not make it, it speaks of a dead beast wanting to revive a wounded image. The Bible says that this beast is a combination of bear and Leopard (Iran and Turkey). And if we look at Iran some three decades ago on how leaders looked like, it raises a question: are we moving ahead or backwards. In Iran before the nutty Khomeinis, we had the Shah of Iran Mohammad Reza Pahlavi looking like this:
And now we have this:
twenty some years ago, when I was trumpeting that Iran and Turkey want to revive their ancient empires, it sounded more like a fantasy, a fairy tale. These days, everyday I peruse the tweets from the Middle East, I find hundreds of tweets that say: “Turkey is reviving its Sultanate while Iran is reviving its Persian Empire”.
But folks get bored of this message. However, the question is: what a way to witness, the Bible said it all and who can argue of such powerful evidence that God declared it all:
“Bel bows down, Nebo stoops;
Their idols were on the beasts and on the cattle …
Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’” (from Isaiah 46)
As I write, I smile. It was that one verse “Declaring the end from the beginning” which played the pivotal role, causing me to abandon Islam. There are so many who run to and from after tabloids and empty media, yet here is God speaking to a narrow gate, to a few who would pay close attention. God declares that the Crescent of Islam (Bel) will bow and their prophet (Nebo) will stoop and also bow to Christ, the Son of God. He declares it and He says “Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning …”
And I ask: who is like our God?
Repent O Muslims and know that our God will do all His pleasure, and you all will bow to His Son, now or in the end. This includes your crescent and your false prophet. Like it or not, you either submit now, or bang your heads on a rock, God will do His pleasure, not yours.
