The US Government, The Private Prison System And Lobbyists Are Using Illegal Immigration For Power, To Make Money And To Promote Eugenics

By Theodore Shoebat

The story of a caravan of thousands of migrants coming from Honduras has, quite expectedly, sparked emotions amongst the American populace. I believe that this is really the whole point of the situation. Thousands of people coming from Honduras, reportedly fleeing violence and poverty, heading right for the United States. While this story will be portrayed as a nightmare for the society, this type of situation is exactly what Trump and his ilk want, because it gives them the opportunity to present themselves as the solution to the ‘crises.’ It is not coincidental that this is all happening before an election.

What these politicians are doing is tapping into the fears that many Americans have of being invaded. Fantasies about invasion is in deep within the psyche of the population. Just two months before the 9/11 attacks, the former CIA operative, Larry C. Johnson, wrote on the New York Times that “Americans are bedeviled by fantasies about terrorism.” Even though Johnson was a shady character, he was obviously correct in this observation, because politicians love to use terrorism as a way to get the masses riled up behind them. Hence why Trump, without any evidence, used American paranoia about Middle Eastern people and said that amongst the Honduran caravan there are Middle Easterners: “Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in.” An AP report states:

“A team of AP journalists traveling with the caravan for more than a week has spoken with Hondurans, Guatemalans and Salvadorans, but has not met any Middle Easterners, who Trump suggested were “mixed in” with the Central American migrants.”

Another report from NBC writes:

“A former senior intelligence official who continues to be briefed on current intelligence told NBC News that there is no evidence that any Middle Eastern terrorists are hiding in the caravan. Middle Eastern and African immigrants have routinely crossed illegally across the U.S.-Mexico border for years, but their numbers pale in comparison to the number of Central Americans. Last fiscal year, they accounted for less than one out of every 100 — 0.7 percent — of border apprehensions, according to DHS. Instances of known or suspected terrorists crossing the southern border are incredibly rare, the official said. In addition, internal U.S. government documents on the caravan make no mention of Middle Easterners, criminals or a terror threat.”

Of course, Trump goes on Twitter and tells people that there are Middle Easterners and Hondurans stampeding towards the US border, and not surprisingly, tens of thousands of people are sharing and liking it. Trump is getting the reaction that he and other Republicans want.

Just recently the Honduran and Guatemalan governments closed their borders in order to prevent another caravan from exiting (in the case of Honduras) and entering (in the case of Guatemala) their countries, as we read from El Pais:

“Guatemala and Honduras have agreed to close the Agua Caliente border crossing this Saturday. This has been reported by the National Institute of Migration of Honduras in a statement this afternoon. Apparently, the decision has been made after a group of approximately 500 Hondurans tried to cross the border. Contingents of the Guatemalan Police with the support of the Army arrived in the area to stop them.”

But why now has Guatemala and Honduras closed their borders? They closed their borders after 500 Hondurans tried to cross the border, but not when thousands of Hondurans were crossing the border and entering Guatemala? It would not be surprising at all that Honduras and Guatemala allowed these people to cross in order to boost the propaganda of crises that US politicians are utilizing. Representative Matt Gaetz recently posted a video from Guatemala showing a crowd of people receiving bills of money. But Gaetz wrongfully declared that the video was from Honduras.

Like Trump’s propaganda on Twitter, Gaetz’s posting of a video got tens of thousands of shares, likes and comments, which indicates the effectiveness of working to get people to think that they are being overrun by foreigners. Who ultimately benefits from all this? The propagandists. With such stories, they get more attention, more publicity, and with the limelight, they present themselves as heroes, as defenders of America and of the Constitution. Here is the bottom line that so few people are willing to admit, or want to know: America wants illegal immigration.

Trump is now threatening to use the military if the migrants come to the border. I suspect that the migrant caravan is being used to enable militarism, just as the Germans and the Austrians today are using the European ‘migrant crises’ to expand their border patrol into the Balkans.

With illegal immigration, politicians have a reason to exist, they can make themselves up as heroes; with illegal immigration the private prison system profits. In 2005 the US government started a program called Operation Streamline, under which migrants — instead of being simply returned to Mexico — would be incarcerated at the expense of state funds. From 2005 to 2014, the federal government spent $5.5 billion, spending over $1.4 billion in 2011 alone, for Operation Streamline. The District Court Judge, Sam Sparks, of the Western District of Texas, said regarding Operation Streamline: “[t]he expenses of prosecuting illegal entry and reentry cases (rather than deportation) on aliens without any significant criminal record is simply mind boggling. The US Attorney’s policy of prosecuting all aliens presents a cost to the American taxpayer that is neither meritorious nor reasonable.”

In the 1980s ICE began to make contracts with private prisons to keep migrants since detention centers were getting maxed out. By 1989, ICE was holding about two thousand people a day, with five hundred people being held in private prisons. But in over three decades, with the help of stricter immigration laws, numbers like this have grown immensely. With ICE detention being in the hundreds of thousands each year, private prison systems will take in about half of what ICE takes in. The first private prison system was the Corrections Corporation of America (now known as CoreCivic) which was founded in 1983. The private prison system profits greatly from illegal immigration and they have a powerful lobbying network that supports their apparatus. As Travis Pratt, professor of criminology, has said:

“The private prisons industry has a very, very heavy lobby in most states and the federal government to increase sanctions for a number of offenses. They’ve been doing this for a very long time. It’s a multi-million-dollar lobbying effort. …And they’ve been exceptionally successful — longer sentences for more types of offenses means more inmates, more inmates means they have to be housed somewhere, which translates to greater profits for that industry.”

Between 2002 and 2012, private prison companies spent $45 million for lobbyists to back them up, and for campaigns for politicians that they wanted to advance. The Corrections Corporation of America admitted that their existence is dependent on contracts with the state. As the Corrections Corporation of America told its shareholders: “Our growth is generally dependent upon our ability to obtain new contracts to develop and manage new correctional and detention facilities … any changes with respect to drugs and controlled substances or illegal immigration could affect the number of persons arrested, convicted, and sentenced, thereby potentially reducing demand for correctional facilities to house them.”

While the financial strength of detaining illegal migrants is based on contracts with the government, ultimately it is based on one thing: illegal immigration. The right-wing propagandists want to make you think that it is ‘illegal immigrants versus us,’ but the reality is that migrants are constantly being used by the government, private prison systems, and think-tanks for political, financial and ideological means. The illegal immigrant is a cog in the machine of political theater, used as a distraction for whatever dealings are taking place behind the scenes.

A good example of this is what took place in 2009 in the states of Georgia and Alabama. In Irwin County in Georgia, the privately ran prison, Irwin Detention Center — which was the county’s top employer — was dealing with a dwindling prison population and needed more inmates. The county collaborated with the Irwin Detention Center and contacted ICE asking them to send illegals to Georgia to be detained. As a report from the Nation stated: “even as Georgia and Alabama passed harsh new immigration laws last year designed to keep out undocumented immigrants … politicians from both states were lobbying hard to bring immigrant detainees in. ICE succumbed to the pressure, sending hundreds of detainees to the financially unstable facility in Georgia that promised to detain immigrants cheaply.”

So, the private prison system wants illegal immigrants because that guarantees large profits. If they don’t have enough prisoners, they’ll make sure to strive to have illegals come into their cells. The American people believe that politicians really care about ‘defending the border,’ but the reality is that politicians receive millions from the lobbying apparatus for the private prison systems in order to push for laws that make it easier to detain migrants (which means more money for the private prison systems). The two largest private prison systems, CoreCivic and Geo Group, enjoyed an increase in the value of their shares in 2018 after ICE announced that it would have 15,000 new beds subsequent to the Trump administration’s decision to detain migrant families. It is no wonder that Trump’s campaign was bankrolled by both CivicCore and Geo Group, as we read in a report published by the Hill:

“President Trump’s plan to establish more detention centers for undocumented immigrants will give a boost to private prison companies that backed Trump’s presidential campaign, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

CoreCivic and Geo Group both saw their shares spike last month after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that it will likely add 15,000 new beds for families after Trump’s executive order to detain undocumented immigrant families together, according to the newspaper.

Both companies have relied on ICE for a significant chuck of their revenue in recent years, according to the Journal, which reported that the agency made up a quarter of CoreCivic’s revenue last year, up from 13 percent a decade earlier.

Geo Group experienced a similar rise, with ICE making up 24 percent of its recent from 10 percent in 2007.

Each of the companies donated $250,000 to Trump’s inauguration, and Geo Group last year held a leadership conference at one of Trump’s golf resorts in Florida.”

The fixation on ‘illegal immigration’ serves also ideological purposes. Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley industrialist, is a funder for the eugenist, pro-abortionist organization, NumbersUSA (another organization fixated on illegal immigration) which was founded by Roy Beck and John Tanton. Tanton is a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood. According to one report, Tanton “organized the Planned Parenthood chapter in Petoskey, Michigan.” Tanton was a personal friend and ally with Joyce Tarnow, an anti-immigrant and population control advocate. Tarnow served on the board of the organization, Zero Population Growth, from 1972-1974; she ran an abortion clinic in Broward Country from 1976 to 2006 and was also the president of Floridians for a Sustainable Population, and was also a member of the Federation of Anti-Immigration Reform (FAIR). In one article Tarnow wrote:

“Fertility is an environmental issue… That’s why I try to get as many people sterilized as are in my way!”

It is no wonder that John Tanton’s organization, Federation for Americans for Immigration Reform (FAIR), has on its board Sarah Epstein, another eugenist who is part of Planned Parenthood. On the official website for FAIR it lists one Sarah G. Epstein as one of its Board of Directors and describes her resume as:

“Ms. Epstein is an art lecturer and volunteer. She serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including Pathfinder International, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, Center for Development and Population Activities and The Population Institute.”

So you have private prisons who want to use the illegality of certain migrants to make money, and then you have eugenists who use their illegality to promote themselves as ‘patriots’ and ‘defenders of America,’ all the while they back eugenics. As one can see here, there is overlap between Planned Parenthood and the anti-illegal immigration industry. Why is this? Planned Parenthood wants to do abortions on migrants from Latin America. On their own website Planned Parenthood says: “Planned Parenthood believes all people should have access to quality, affordable health care — regardless of income, insurance, or immigration status.” One of the presidents of Planned Parenthood, Staci Fox, admitted: “Predominantly our patients are about 15-29 years old, women of color living at 150 percent or more under the federal poverty level and those are the women who qualify for Medicaid”.

So, Planned Parenthood wants to do abortions on non-whites, and FAIR — the anti-immigration group — wants also abortion on non-whites. While Planned Parenthood acts as though it has compassion for migrants, the right wing types act like they are ‘defenders of America,’ but the reality is that both sides want the same thing — eugenics on the migrants.

The whole presentation of the ‘illegal immigration’ crises is theater for the masses, with one side claiming compassion and the other claiming right wing determinism, and with the “illegal” being used as a political ploy. Its all a show. They will say that a country has a right to block whoever it wants to block. If this is the whole truth of their mentality, then by their belief, the US was absolutely right when it blocked Jewish refugees fleeing the German death camps (see MS St. Louis).  Now, if you argue that those Jewish refugees were indeed needing serious refuge for their lives (which I agree with), then I — using the mentality of the right wing types — could just argue, “Americans first,” and “There are enough Americans who need help here, those Jews are not our problem.” The arguments used for American “self-determination” can be applied to sear away our compassion. But this is the end goal of the nationalists, to destroy our compassion; to say that compassion should be only given to “our people,” and with such a mentality, what it means to be truly human — to rise above our tribal and animalistic impulses — is tarnished.
