Burkina Faso Erupts Into Violence After Islamic Terrorists Groups Attack And Murder Several

The African nation of Burkina Faso has declared a state of emergency after a violent outburst from Islamic terrorist killed several people according to a report:

Burkina Faso has entered into a State of Emergency. President Roch Marc Christian Kabore declared the State of Emergency on December 31st for most of the northern provinces of the country. This was initiated after an ambush by Islamic Radicals killed several people the previous day.

These types of attacks have been increasing as the trouble in northern Mali has been spreading throughout the Sahel. Over the past three years, it is believed that Nusrat al-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM) and Ansarul Islam, another jihadi group have killed no less than 250 people in the small West African Country. These attacks have targeted government officials as well as western foreign travelers.

On top of the deaths caused by these types of attacks, numerous westerners and Christian workers have been kidnapped from the Sahel by these and other groups such as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM). All of this has continued despite a large French presence and a war to gain control over the Northern half of Mali. Burkina faso and many other small nations like it will likely continue to bear the brunt of the Islamic Radicalism that has been growing in the Sahel, unless it is stopped. (source)
